Pika Launches H3 Flex: AI Video With 12 References, Audio and 4K Upscaling

Pika has introduced H3 Flex, a video-and-audio generation model built on MiniMax H3. The release focuses on giving creators more control through reference images, video clips, and audio—not just text prompts. Pika announced the model on October 29, 2026, and said it would reach its creation product on November 2.

In brief: H3 Flex supports up to 12 reference inputs, synchronized video and audio, and native drafts at 480p or 768p. Higher-resolution output up to 4K is available through Pika’s hosted upscaling tools, not native 4K generation.

What’s New in Pika H3 Flex?

The model is designed for creative iteration: generating a draft, changing the direction, and refining the result while keeping reference materials in view. Pika says its post-training process reduced the generation process from 50 denoising steps to six.

Up to 12 referencesCombine supported images, video clips, and audio to guide characters, environments, and motion.
Video with synchronized audioGenerate sound alongside the picture rather than treating audio as an entirely separate step.
Native 480p and 768pUse lower-resolution generations to explore ideas before committing to a finishing pass.
Up to 4K finishingPika-hosted upscaling can increase the resolution of a selected generated clip.

Why This Matters for AI Video Creators

Reference-driven generation is particularly relevant to anyone creating recurring characters or multi-shot stories. For example, a creator could provide a character image, a separate scene reference, and a movement reference to describe how a short sequence should look. This is a possible workflow based on Pika’s announced features, not a test conducted by AI Revolution.

The audio options could also be useful during editing: Pika describes a hosted feature that exports five separate audio stems, allowing creators to adjust parts of the soundtrack independently.

Availability and Limitations

Pika says H3 Flex is available through its API, with model weights and inference code published for supported local workflows. Some capabilities—including high-resolution upscaling and separate audio stems—are Pika-hosted features rather than part of the basic local model release.

The company’s headline speed claim needs context: its example of a 15-second 768p clip taking as little as seven seconds measures transformer computation under benchmark conditions, not the total time a user necessarily waits for an API request. Performance and access may vary.

Developers should review the published model license and current Pika pricing before building a commercial workflow. General-user availability, plan access, and promotions can change.

AI Revolution’s Take

H3 Flex is worth watching because it targets two persistent challenges in AI video: guiding a model with multiple references and refining a promising first generation. We previously used MiniMax H3 in our own Runway experiment, but we have not tested Pika H3 Flex, so we are not making claims about its reliability or character consistency in practice.
